SRAM Force Groupset 2012

The new SRAM 2012 Force group admittedly borrows from SRAM’s professional Red components groupset: unidirectional carbon, wider skeletonized Dual Pivot design brakes and the lighter /stiffer BB30 crankset option but we think all this for a total weight of 1951 g is excellent value.

SRAM Force group has matured through millions of kilometers of professional racing and now offers many more features for the same price:

SRAM Force DoubleTap controls put the revolutionary competitive advantage of DoubleTap technology right at your fingertips.
New for 2012 is the shifter paddle being embedded into stainless steel as used on SRAM Red rather than previous versions prior to 2011 which used Zinc. Zinc is a softer metal so paddles sometimes broke but not any more!
SRAM Force maintains its carbon looks, super lightweight, and ProTour proven durability. Also added is Zero Loss shifting, which engages front shifts immediately. And, like SRAM Red, SRAM Force moves the front trim position to the big ring. SRAM Force also incorporates the popular reach adjust feature, which SRAM invented, and allows riders to customize their brake and shift levers. Ergonomic design is comfortable, aerodynamic, and hides all cables, while weighing only 303 g.

• Competition-focused technology for serious riders: light weight, strength, and durability come together in the SRAM Force Crankset. To complete the package, the SRAM Force Crankset uses SRAM’s exclusive hard-anodized PowerGlide chainrings for long-lasting performance.

• The SRAM Force crankset is available as a BB30 or GXP option. Just as with SRAM Red supersize your ride with the new SRAM Force BB30 crankset: 10% stiffer, 20% lighter, and 300% more ankle clearance than the GXP version. Thanks to the unidirectional carbon structure, both GXP and BB30 crankset versions adopt a sleeker and race-like design.

• The SRAM Force Front Derailleur achieves the critical balance between positive downshifts and light-action upshifts. It features a unique design maximized for 10 speed drivetrains. Working in tandem with the SRAM Force DoubleTap controls, the SRAM Force Front Derailleur allows you to trim your shifting on the big chainring for seamless gear changes. One size fits all on the SRAM Force Front Derailleur: utilizing a standardized design that shifts perfectly with both traditional-size chainrings as well as the popular compact-size ring sets.

• Crisp, clean, correct shifting, always: the most precise gear change in cycling is here with the SRAM Force Rear Derailleur. The SRAM Force Rear Derailleur takes advantage of Exact Actuation, an actuation ratio that delivers precise 3 mm shifts in every gear along with the widest range of adjustment available, delivering the best 10 speed performance in the sport. The SRAM Force Rear Derailleur is crafted with cutting-edge materials, including a unidirectional carbon-fibre outer cage and a magnesium inner link, resulting in an impressively light weight (178 g).

• The new SRAM Force Brakeset was designed with light weight (280 g), performance, and streamlined aesthetics as our guiding principles. Featuring Dual Pivot performance and a proprietary pad compound, the SRAM Force Brakeset delivers high power with low weight. Intelligent engineering combines cold-forged arms, stainless steel main pivot bolts, and a powerful return spring for positive engagement and release.

• To take full advantage of the power and promise of the SRAM Force groupset, you need a cassette and chain that are up to the task. With PG 1050, PG 1070 or the all in one PG 1090 cassette options SRAM have maintained the high level of shifting performance while creating a much quieter cassette/chain combination and giving you the option to save a little on groupset costs. For reference the PG1050 cassette is 250 g, the PG1070 is 210 g and the PG1090 is just 155 g. Weights are approximate

• “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link” - SRAM took this to heart when they designed their innovative 10 speed PowerChain. With PC1031 (277 g), PC1051 (277 g), PC1071 (257 g) and PC1090 (257 g) chain options we've given ou the choice and cost of the chain best suited to your needs and pocket.

The groupset consists of gear changer levers (STi), brake calipers, chain, cassette, bottom bracket cups, front and rear changers and chainset.

Groupsets do not include pedals, headset or hubs; these must be ordered separately.
